Dr.Wiens has a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in psychology from Kansas State University. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the cellular mechanisms of learning and memory, with a focus on the formation of synaptic dendritic spines during development. As Katie transitioned into her post-doctoral fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (associated with the University of Southern California), her research focus shifted toward regenerative medicine. Katie is now an assistant professor of biology and neuroscience at small private university.
Brennan is a hypnotherapist and seminar facilitator who has always been fascinated by the brain, and has a degree in Cellular Biology with an emphasis in Neurophysiology. Brennan has studied various languages and spiritual traditions to find unifying principles between science, spirituality, and human behavior. Michael Ellner develops and teaches CME courses in Mind-Body Pain Relief and Effective Medical Communication for PAINWEEK, the major medical conference for frontline pain clinicians. Ellner is a multi- award-winning hypnosis practitioner and educator. He has co-authored five books on self-empowerment and is the author of the highly acclaimed “BEDSIDE MANNERS: A Pain Clinicians’ Guide to Effective Medical Communication.” Ellner has been published in a peer reviewed journal and is often quoted in medical and hospital trade publications, as well as national womans’ magazines like Good Housekeeping and Woman’s World.
Dr. Brian David Phillips, an internationally known and respected hypnosis practitioner, educator, author, and entertainer. Dr. Phillips is President of the Society of Experiential Trance, is the editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Experiential Trance and was the founding editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Applied Hypnotic Arts and Sciences. Dr. Phillips is an associate professor at National Chengchi University. He has taught numerous workshops and seminars on hypnosis, focused trance, and experiential hypnosis as well as a number of webinars on these and related subjects.
Melissa Tiers is the founder of The Center For Integrative Hypnosis with a private hypnosis practice in New York City. She is a certified hypnosis instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, a certified medical hypnotherapist, an EFT practitioner and a master practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, who uses an integrative approach to help people make changes on both the conscious and unconscious level.
James Hazlerig holds an M.A. in English, and he enjoys bringing his experience in linguistic structure and narrative technique to his work as a hypnosis practitioner. He attended HPTI on a full scholarship, graduating in December 2012, and is proud to be the first HPTI graduate to become an HPTI instructor. In addition to running a private hypnosis practice in Austin, Texas, where he helps with smoking cessation, stage fright, and other issues, James volunteers as a meditation and mindfulness teacher for prison inmates in recovery.
